YOUNG CALTEX SOCCEROO GETS FIRST GOAL

Caltex Socceroo rising youngster Chris Ikonomidis has gotten his first goal for AGF Aarhus, ensuring the team was victorious in the Danish Cup clash.


AGF defeated their opponents Holbaek 3-1 as Ikonomidis got the match-winning goal. We take a look at other Socceroos players.

The game was a good one for the Aussie pair in Denmark as Mustafa Amini impressed for the visitors. Amini was prominent in the build up to Ikonomidis effort. Ange Postecoglou would be happy with the goal from the young player, particularly after naming him in his 30-man squad for the FIFA World Cup affair against Thailand next month.

Ikonomidis was named 24 hours earlier but seems to have proved that he merited the call in the first place.

On the other hand, Brad Jones maintained yet another clean sheet. The Feyenoord shot-stopper has earned a lot of commendation for his recent efforts, and was crucial as the team cruised to a 4-1 victory over Excelsior in the KNVB Beker – Dutch Cup.

Hareide Happy with Viktor Fischer’s Move to Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough recently signed Viktor Fischer for around € 5 million from Ajax.


The Danish winger has been spoken of as one of the finest young and upcoming players available for the national team. Hence, it was not surprising that new Danish manager Age Hareide was happy to see the player sign for a Premier League team. Middlesbrough are back in the top division of English football after an extended absence. However, this has been seen as a positive thing for the club since it has allowed them to rebuild from the bottom up.

Almost every one of the squad is new and Middlesbrough will be hoping to stay up and enjoy several seasons of the Premier League once again. The vast sums of TV money set to flow into the club has allowed them to sign players likeFischer. Last season, he almost helped Ajax win the Dutch league title. The highly rated youngster made 28 appearances in the league and scored eight goals. Even though Middlesbrough have not enjoyed the best of players coming from Dutch football, the club are confident about Viktor Fischer being a success. Despite being only 22,Fischer has already made a nine appearances for the national team and scored two goals.

Top Clubs in Football got to be Richest after TV rights Sell

Earlier in February, Sky and BT Sport agreed on making a deal involving the broadcasting TV rights of the Premier League which was reported to be worth £5.14. This cash injection has allowed all the clubs in the top tier English League on entering the top 30 richest clubs in the world thanks to their revenue and this can also help out the clubs on signing foreign talent with this extra cash.

This astronomically high cash deal that was done brings a number of positive effects but at the same time it delivers numerous consequences which are harmful to the English national football team as the former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar said that this deal is doing more damage than good.

Lord Sugar confirmed that £340m of the recent deal will be spent on the development of youth centers which is good news the teams in the Premier League but a big portion of the remaining money is not going to be spent in the way that it should in order to help the national team as more and more cash will be used to sign players from abroad and not allow the improvement of England’s football squad.
