ERIKSEN SOUGHT AFTER

The Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has been one of the sought-after midfielders in recent times, with the clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea showing interest in the player for a long time. It is widely expected that the youngster will be moving away from the Dutch club Ajax in the summer. However, the Danish national team manager Morten Olsen thinks that he should not be tempted by a move to the club and should stay with Ajax for a few more years. There have been numerous cases of highly talented youngsters moving to bigger clubs at young ages only to falter.

The lack of regular first-team opportunities in the club limits the development of a young player according to Morten Olsen. He has said that due to the fact that Christian Eriksen is only 20 years of age he still has a long time to move to a big club. Olsen has recalled that Eriksen has managed to play at the top level with the Ajax team for the last three seasons, while he has been part of the national team in 25 occasions. Due to the fact that Ajax are regularly competing for the title and playing in European games, Eriksen should consider staying with the Dutch team for a little more time.

“He’s still only 20 years’ old, but he’s a player who is developing all the time. He’s played two, three years and been a champion a couple of times, he’s played over 25 internationals and been in a lot of Champions League games. A move would be a bad idea. There are many positives (with Ajax), they play for the title, they’re at the top, they’re regularly in the Europa League playing big games,” said the manager, who is under pressure after a winless run of seven matches.
