REAL MADRID INTERESTED IN ERIKSEN

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is thought to be closing in on a move to Spanish side Real Madrid according to reports. The Denmark international has been linked with a move away from the club in the past few seasons.

Earlier in the summer, it seemed likely that he would leave after refusing to sign a new contract last season. However, a move failed to materialize after Tottenham demanded £50 million as a transfer fee for the player.

It is thought that Real Madrid are weighing up Eriksen as the replacement for Croatia ace Luka Modric. Modric turned 34 last month and was close to leaving the Spanish side and could be allowed to exit in the summer.

Eriksen has not enjoyed the best of seasons with the transfer saga delaying his rhythm in August. Tottenham’s recent lump has not helped matters with the North London club losing consecutive games and conceding 10 goals.

Eriksen possesses the quality to play for a team like Real Madrid having shone in the Premier League. However, it is still being rumoured that Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane would prefer a transfer for Paul Pogba.

Pogba is younger than Eriksen and has more star power but would be expected to cost a fortune if they are to prise him from Manchester United. Eriksen has also been linked with Italian giants Juventus.

The Serie A outfit have emerged as the kings of the free transfer market and it would be little surprise if he ends up in Turin.  Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the creative midfielder.

Eriksen who is known for his setpiece and playmaking ability would be a huge plus for any club that signs him. The attacking midfielder is currently with Denmark for the ongoing Euro 2020 qualifiers which are part of the international break schedule.
